Spinal cord injury is both physically and financially impactful. Basic medical needs, supplies, prescriptions, and expensive home improvement can be overwhelming.

Chris's Story

On July 22, 2019, NC State Trooper, Chris Wooten was in a terrible accident. Hit and thrown from his motorcycle, Chris was found fighting for his life. He was transported to Carolina Medical Center and received many life-saving operations. The surgeons did their best but the damage was severe and they feared paralysis from his neck down.

After gaining enough strength, Chris was transported to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. It hasn’t been an easy road for Chris and his family. More operations and months of rehabilitation. His wife Sharon never left his side. Those who know Chris, know he’ll brighten your worst of days or give you the shirt off his back. Thanks to Shepherd, he is still with us – still humble, still smiling, still hopeful.

Now it’s time for us to do the same for him and others impacted by spinal cord injury. Let’s be their light and hope!
